However, they tolerated their expected 3 minutes of this wonderfully and we managed to capture the following.

Where I come from, we call it a VICTORY.

And, as if a gift from the heavens, the four year old provides a picture-perfect frownsmile. What else can one ask for in life? Nothing, I say. Nothing at all.

It's been a mere 9 months since my last post. You'd have thought I'd had a baby in that time or something. But alas, No. Note the Capital N.

I will refrain from supplying excuses (I am not required to give them, and I don't have any) for the lack of postings, but have chosen to break the mold today by posting a few pictures from a recent photo shoot of some long-running Twin Falls clients and good friends of mine.

Goodness me. It's been over a month since I posted on here. I guess it's also been just over a month since I was called as Primary President, went out of the country on a trip, came back to relative chaos with pics, yogurt, and the like, and then attempted to celebrate holidays. You know, the basic stuff. So, someday I'll get to updating the various sessions that were unfortunately (but not intentionally) omitted from the blog.

For now...I give you, my sister's family.

We wrangled down a session in the living room with them while they were here for the holidays. I almost fell off my banister whilst taking this one, but alas - I think it was worth risking my life. They're ridiculously adorable.

This next one was supposed to be a joke. But, well...it turned out
pretty cute. A new poster for Matt's office.

There is, perhaps, no better title for the first one of this grouping here. Right? He's hilarious. Looking all bored, but in charge, and "Don't mess with me..." I love it.
I got to shoot his family earlier and still haven't posted any of them (or ANY others in the last month...) since the blogging is taking a backseat while I'm currently (going insane) and keeping my hands and feet in at least 3 things each. I'll get to posting them...eventually.

Last night, I photographed the final dress-rehearsal for "Curtains," put on by the Magic Valley Little Theater. It was really cool to be able to be all, up on stage-ish, getting in people's way taking pics of the cast during the show. I am really dying for a faster lens now (if I do this again) but had a great time taking and reviewing these. The show opens tonight and plays through Sunday. If you're local, you should totally go see it.

This post powered by the ever-popular dum dum sucker. Without those babies, I'd seldom make it through a session with more than 1 child. They came in handy with this cute crew a couple weeks ago. I am still mesmerized by their eyes. Blue only for boys, brown for girls - and all of them just so adorable and fun. I would have taken that baby home with me too I think.... if it hadn't been for the fact that they wanted to keep him. Sigh......... So at any rate - here you have them, fresh off the highway from the sunny skies of San Diego. It was great meeting you! (next time, I'll come to you, eh? and make a vacation out of it.)

Remember this lovely Owen Wilson look-a-like? Well, his sister went and grew into a senior as well. We had a great time dodging raindrops and mosquitos, frolicking through the woods amidst falling leaves the wind stirred up, and uh, yeah...playing with alley cats and laughing about the boys whistling from the passing cars. Yes, this shoot was super all-inclusive. And the results.....amazing. Meg - you're beautiful. I tried to pick just one or two as my favorites with no success. Too mucho many. My white backdrop took a beating (literally) by this munchkin. It's entertaining watching what amuses some 2 year-olds. He liked the sound it made when he punched it really hard. All those things I dropped on my head, shot from my mouth, etc... he didn't care. But the thundering boom of the backdrop - - that was a winner!

Has it been 3 months? Wow. Time flies when you're not the one staying up all night with a newborn. Although it sounds like Saylor is as perfect as they come, sleeping multiple hours through the night and smiling all the rest of the while. This was a way fun shoot.

She must know that she's in for a long life with a camera in her face. She was very cooperative, as you'll see here. Either that, or she still recognizes my delicate voice from the day she was born. :)

Braving the elements with the Gassers...

Okay, props to this family. They were such troopers for this session. So cold. We were lucky to squeeze it in before it snowed 3 inches the next day! Seriously, these kids were so freezing. I felt so bad. But, alas...it was worth it. Normally, I wouldn't recommend an on-location shoot in the middle of January with children of these ages, but Brooklyn's husband is only here for a little while before he heads back to Afghanistan, so they made it happen. So sweet. He's here enjoying his cute family and his newborn son. They're all adorable and fun, as you can tell. Thanks for the freezing good time!

Taking the H.S. dance pictures is always an adventure. This attempt was no exception. Coincidentally, for me it was the same weekend as an unfortunate food poisoning bout, but alas, I mustered enough "chipper" to get the job done. Back in December when all the Ashby clan was together, we gathered for an exciting evening of family photos. We went through a lot of Smarties that night. We shot this family just in time. It started snowing toward the end of the session and proceeded to produce about 4 inches before the morning. I'm glad we went with Tuesday as opposed to Thursday, huh? Even if it WAS so frrrrreeezing for these trooper kiddos and adults alike.

Just like the frightful weather outside, it seems as if my lil' blog here has been frozen. It's not for a lack of images to post, but rather because amidst attempting to survive -6° in Kimberly, I am significantly behind in getting them all edited, as well as all their Christmas Cards. I was so honored to have been a part of this delivery. There was surprisingly a lot of laughter throughout this labor, and only when lil' miss Saylor Kate really decided it was time to get here, did we get somewhat serious. This (so fun) friend of mine did a great job getting this baby here, and she is really just the cutest thing ever. Here's to ice chips, popsicles and happy deliveries everywhere... welcome Saylor.

The Captivating Craigs of P-town...

Back in February, I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the "Love for Nie" benefit concert and auction for my friend (and now famous) StephaNIE NIElson (who coincidentally will be appearing on the Today Show tomorrow). The winners of my photography auction were this adorable family.

I ventured down to Provo a couple weeks ago and enjoyed the general splendor. It was, after all, the source of every newlywed and college memory I now treasure. This family was very fun and SO easy to work with. Their children are gorgeous also. That always helps. Wow - I've been inundated with GORGEOUS five-children-ed families lately. Watch for the next one soon.

I had so much fun taking, working with and drooling over these children's images. Oh. My. Goodness. Heather and I made an exceptional team, if I do say so myself. She was in charge of the various accessorizing, clothing changes, soccer ball dancing, etc... and me - - well, I just just bribed them with a lot of Smarties and Fruit Snacks and snapped away (over 600 in all). Due to circumstances beyond my immediate control. (i.e., yikes it was crazy) we ended up with over 150 final images. This is a victory, I do declare.

Just look. Nothing else needs to be said, really. They're gorgeous children. All of them. As previously mentioned, you should maybe watch out for them on parenting magazine covers or J.Crew catalogs nationwide.

Thanks for the ride you guys. That was crazy fun! Enjoy!

So funny... when Marco, his girlfriend and I treaded onto the Bruin's track, practically THROUGH their football practice, to get to the bleachers so we could take some pics in his own (Buhl Indians) jersey, I wondered if we might get kicked out. I suppose it wouldn't be the first time...

Anyway... Marco has a million-dollar smile and made this session really fun. I've noticed, however, that the senior guys really get tired of me saying, "just one more..." so I should probably stop. I love how warm this session ended up. The colors around town are enough to melt my heart as I shuttle my darlings to and fro. As a result of the beauty, I've been exceptionally busy lately....but that's great because it means I am utilizing the color. I feel, you know - - productive.

This BEAUTIFUL family was super fun to work with. I've determined that girls aged 6 to 12-ish (love them) truly ADORE having their picture taken and are really fun to shoot. This family was no exception. So...Much....Fun...

These are my adorable nieces and nephews. Just five of them. After adding two new baby boys in the last two weeks (Welcome Luke and Sawyer!!!) there are sixteen grandchildren on my side of the family now! I wish I could get my hands (and my camera) on those babies!

Braving the canyon with the Halls...

This was, by far, the most adventurous photo session I've ever done, and WHAT tough little troopers these cute kids were. This family's property on Rock Creek Canyon was beautiful and really a nice (a'hem) hike...in my flip flops. :) I enjoy a good adventure now and then, and am grateful we all made it out of the canyon without so much as a scrape. These guys are really fun, and oh so cute and photogenic, so it was a great time editing. Until next time, I'll update my health and life insurance policies.

So, Whitney got a new shirt today for school and upon trying it on when we got home and realizing she really liked it, she immediately asked if I would take a picture of her in it. Well, since I knew I'd be planning her "I'm Eight..." photo shoot eventually, I gave in and we brought the dress and did them all at once. Of course lil' Miss Sis came along and it ended up being quite the girly outing for all of us. I'll post her baptism pics later, but for now - check out my cutie beauties...

The one of Abby really cracks me up. It's very indicative of her personality. She's actually REALLY UN-photogenic when she tries too hard, so I have to tell her about how she snores and her feet stink to get that... Whitney, on the other hand, could toss that head of hers all day long. :)

Natalie and her boys came all the way from North Carolina just for pictures!! (or maybe it was to see her sister in Jerome...) Regardless, it was really fun to see her again (what's it been, 10 years?) and meet her SO FUNNY boys for the first time. Their brave Daddy is serving in the military and is currently overseas, so these were fun ones to share with him, for certain.

Seriously, that trip to AZ and California was just so wonderful. Every other minute (it seemed like) we were reconnecting with those we've missed all this time. I was super excited to see Mary's family in Prescott....another of my BFFs that I'm SO STOKED is moving about 10 hours closer (YAY!) in the next couple of weeks. She and Elise single-handedly got me addicted to Triathlons. I am forever indebted.

My sister and her kids were here last week for a fun visit from Texas. We had a great time playing in the water with Grandma, eating Cafe Rio, shopping, sending the kids fishing with Doug, the works! We managed to squeeze in a few pictures, of course...

Their baby brother is scheduled for an October arrival also. What fun...ALL these babies coming to our family this year. I feel (somewhat, but not terribly) left out not producing any of them. Jenny's due in some two-ish weeks with the first of them and we're excited to find out who he/she is! Mare...I'll finish the rest of these someday, I promise.

My (heartbreaker of a) nephew, Carter, is famous for his rendition of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." I'm convinced he's equally capable of running a mean ring around you like a fireball. He's SERIOUSLY the funniest kid I've ever met. Of course, he made this impromptu shoot really interesting also. He insisted on giving me his "vampire" smile quite often.

Carter, Sugar... you're awesome.

I did both outdoor and in-studio sessions with this delightful family. I didn't think I'd get to this one so soon, but I'm on some kind of multi-tasking roll today. Editing, writing a Girl's Camp schedule (for the go-zillionth time), watching conference talks online, and delivering correspondence to YW parents. Is it dark yet?

I enjoyed these kids immensely. They're way cute, and really funny. My "drop the shoe off my head" trick worked especially well for one of them. I'm anxious to see the on-location shots. After getting eaten alive by ants and mosquitos, I hope we have something to show for it.

These (Young Family) adorables came over the day before we left, so I've been anxious to see what came of the session since then. You may remember their cute sister from a few posts back. I think, consideirng the relative chaos that reigned supreme, the rabbits, the otter pops, the tutus, flowers and fruit loops, I'm pleased with the results. I hope you agree Susan.

This is sure to (hopefully) be the first of a long line of teasers. I recently returned from a super-long vacation during which I had a combined total of 8 sessions. In addition to Girl's Camp, scouts, five children seeking to conquer summer boredom, and the like...I've got about 3000 pics to sift through. This here's a SERIOUS teaser of the Montes Bunch. I got to meet up with them in Utah yesterday (in the rain) and shoot their SIX little (and not so little anymore) darlings. I perused the raw images briefly and found a couple I thought I'd play with. I have over 500 to sort through. I hope to have them promptly. It was great seeing them again. I can't believe it's been seven months since we left PV. Yikes.

We were supposed to be outside for this session, but we were rained out. However, as it turns out, the studio worked out just splendidly. K, this girl needs to be on the cover of a magazine. I could shoot her all day. (and she'd probably let me). This was round two with these very humble cuties. This time it was to adequately document the cuteness of the boys. I'll have the rest done pronto, I promise.

Sessions scheduled before May 1st (even if they take place after that date) will still be booked at current pricing.

A session fee is $100 for a family of up to 10 people. Each additional person is $10.00.

This includes a 1-2 hour session at a location of your choice (in-studio or outdoors), online access to view your photographs to order prints of your choosing, as well as my time editing and touching up your images.

A CD with your full resolution images is available for an additional $100.

We were most fortunate the weather agreed to cooperate for this session. It was supposed to be rather stormy and raining, but alas...beautiful (although chilly) weather abounds, even today! Spring is REALLY trying.

These guys were Oh.So.Very cute, and really fun to work with. Their lil' Miss was working off some Jet Lag, thus representing her independant spirit well, but was SO cute, so we let it slide ;)

Matt (who conveniently resembles Owen Wilson) was so kind the other day to put up with my repetitive "okay, just one more shot by this wall... oh, I mean REALLY one more by this door, well...maybe ONE more by this tree." I thank him profusely for his patience with my trigger finger. It's funny because usually by the end of these senior sessions for people I don't know, it's the last few poses when they've finally figured me out...and are the most relaxed. Thankfully, he was SO easy-going, so it all worked out.

Bubba turns 3

This session started enjoyable and quickly went south. Most three year olds are not too difficult to negotiate a picture or two, but your OWN child that is a male...that's another story. I had fun using a whole lot of creativity to get him to LOOK at the camera. Despite the difficulties, I was actually quite pleased with a few of the results. They are very "him" and depict his personality well. All these facial expressions are very much his own. I love this lil' bubba.

This gaggle of girls (and their dad) have been friends for a long time, although I'm pretty sure it's the first time (in about 8 years) that I've seen their girls in real life. It was fun catching up with them a couple of weeks ago down in Utah. Jake served with Doug in Redlands, and Megen and I went to high school together. I think their four beauties are a perfect medley of the two of them. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Westwood for supplying your backyard since we only had a little time, and it was....brrrrrrrrr....freezing.

It was (as we now say) uber-enjoyable to spend some time with this former beehive & babysitter-turned senior in high school. Heavens I feel old.

Sabrina and I had only just an hour or so for this session, so made excellent use of our time scouring the grounds of her beautiful new high school for some unique shots. I think we succeeded in capturing her all-over beauty.

As a common friend of both Sabrina and myself has previously stated, I can't wait to be "grown up friends" with her. She is so fun. Hilarious. Wholesome. Enjoyable. Love ya.
